Audi A4 Exterior Review

Exterior - 8.0 (Very Good)

The 2007 Audi A4's exterior is generally well-liked. "The A4's fresh design is handsome, incorporating Audi's big grille better than on the A6 or A8," reports Car and Driver.

It continues, "The look is new, with the mouth on the front saying "Oh!" just as on the bigger Audis. There's also a sharp crease in the sheetmetal running the full length of the flanks, which has the effect of de-blobbing the otherwise soft shape. Behind, the taillights are stretched wider; they now lap onto the decklid-this to visually broaden the shoulders, says Audi."

The prominent grille is the centerpiece of the design, and most reviewers have warmed to it. Automobile Magazine says "It's hard to miss that chrome snout barreling toward you," adding that "the A4's going-away presence is equally buzz-worthy, with jigsaw-puzzle-piece taillamps."

The A4 is available as a Sedan or, in the Cabriolet edition, as a convertible.

Exterior Trims

Audi A4 2.0T, Audi A4 3.2

The 2.0T models ride on 16-inch alloy wheels, while 3.2 Models ride on standard 17-inch alloy wheels. Otherwise, they are identical from the exterior, save for a small trunk badge identifying the model.

Audi A4 Cabriolet

The convertible edition of the 2007 A4 comes with a soft-top, designed to acoustically seal the car against road and wind noise, and insulate in cold weather. Automobile.com reports that "its proportions are elegant and clean; timeless seems a fitting adjective. The A4 Cabriolet looks good whether the top is up or down, something that can't be said of many convertibles," and says that "lowering the top is a simple and non-intrusive process. While in Park, press and hold the power window style switch in the center console until the electric motors and servos have completed their choreographed movement stowing the roof neatly beneath a tonneau cover. That's all there is to it." The Cabriolet rides on 16-inch alloy wheels.
