New 2007 BMW X5 Exterior Review [ 2009 , 2008 ]
BMW X5 Exterior Review
Exterior - 7.7 (Good)
Redesigned for 2007, the X5 has gained in size but otherwise looks strikingly similar to the 2006 model. With looks that thWashington Post describes as "pleasant," the X5 follows the styling of the rest of BMW's models with sharp lines and a sporty, muscular stance.
Writers found slight improvement in the 2007 X5's exterior, but are quick to add this class of SUVs has become much more competitive in recent years. Edmunds says the 2007 X5 has "a more planted, station-wagonlike appearance compared to the tall-and-tippy look of the original X5."
"Many of the styling cues of the X3 and 3-Series can be found on the new X5, which wears them relatively well, considering its substantial size," says Car and Driver. In fact, the 2007 X5 is 2.4 inches wider and 7.4 inches longer than previous models. Automobile Magazine sees the X5 exterior as having an "aggressive nature," which "gives it a more planted and meaner stance than any ML. Moldings on the front and rear bumpers, as well as along the rocker panels and fenders give BMWs new ute an almost adventurous look, and, I should add, will help protect the X5's good looks if someone does get a little too adventurous."
