Cadillac Escalade EXT Safety Review

Safety - NA

The 2007 Cadillac Escalade EXT does well in federal government crash tests. "Occupants of the 2007 Cadillac Escalade EXT are pretty safe in their bling fortress," says CNET.

The EXT earned 5 out of 5 stars for driver protection in front impact crashes, and 5 out of 5 stars for front passenger protection. It has not yet been rated for side impacts.

Accident Avoidance

Standard accident avoidance features on the EXT include a computer-controlled, four-channel electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation; traction control; a Bosch 8.0 anti-lock braking system, and ultrasonic rear parking assist, which provides an audible alert to the presence of objects behind the vehicle. Of the latter, Newsday notes, "The rear obstacle detection and warning system is standard, as some believe it ought to be in all light trucks to help prevent back-over deaths of children."

Crash Protection

The EXT comes standard with front passenger, dual-stage air bags and a passenger detection system, plus curtain side air bags in first, second and third rows.
