Cadillac SRX

Overall Score - 7.9 (Good)

The SRX delivers family car utility and a luxury interior, but suffers from poor fuel economy and sometimes-sluggish performance. If you're in the market for a luxury midsize SUV, you should also consider the highly rated and comparably priced Acura MDX and Lexus RX 350.

The Cadillac SRX offers good performance for a midsize SUV along with a comfortable interior. The Orlando Sentinel says that the SRX "may be the best Cadillac in decades," and Edmunds notes that "the 2007 Cadillac SRX is a top choice for those wanting a bit of extra on-road excitement from their SUV."

The SRX, which debuted in 2003, also receives top honors from Car and Driver, which recognizes the new model as one of their "5 Best Trucks," and from Consumer Guide, which names it a "Best Buy." Consumer Guide says that "against similarly priced premium midsize SUVs, SRX is among the best in performance, features, and accommodations ... Add AWD security, and it's a Best Buy alternative to a traditional luxury sedan." However, for 2007, IntelliChoice gives the base SRX a value rating of "worse than average" for its predicted five-year total cost of ownership, compared with other vehicles in its class.

The Cadillac SRX is only available in one trim, with a choice of the V6 or V8 model. Rear-wheel drive (RWD) is standard and all-wheel drive (AWD) is optional.

SRX Performance - 7.7 (Good)

The 2007 Cadillac SRX is a crowd-pleaser for performance. The Detroit News calls it a "slam-dunk" and favors it over the Lexus RX, and Forbes hails it as a "solid all-around performer." Most reviewers also agree that the SRX provides an enjoyable ride ideal for inclement weather and long road trips. continue

SRX Exterior - 7.0 (Good)

Reviewers are clearly divided about the exterior styling of the 2007 Cadillac SRX. Descriptions vary from "ugly" to "modern." Forbes sums it up best by saying that buyers should avoid the vehicle altogether if "the SRX's station-wagon styling leaves you cold." continue

SRX Interior - 7.6 (Good)

Glowing reviews all commend Cadillac for giving the interior of the 2007 SRX -- which had been criticized in previous models -- a luxurious makeover. With an optional third row, the standard five-seat SRX can accommodate up to seven, and reviewers applaud the Bose audio system and optional panoramic sunroof and wood-trim package. continue

SRX Safety - 8.0 (Very Good)

There are various features which contribute to a vehicle's safety, and the SRX has these in spades. In government crash tests, the 2007 Cadillac SRX received 4 out of a possible 5 stars in frontal crash tests and a perfect 5 stars in side crash tests. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) gave it a "good" rating (the highest possible) for frontal crash tests. continue

SRX Reliability - 6.0 (Mediocre)

The 2007 Cadillac SRX reliability score shown is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS). The SRX enjoys GM's four-year/50,000-mile basic warranty. continue
