Cadillac STS
Overall Score - 8.3 (Very Good)
The STS delivers American luxury and comfort in a sport sedan package - and one that most critics feel comes close to matching the best of its luxury performance car competitors. If you're in the market for a luxury, sporty sedan, you should also consider the highly rated Infiniti M, BMW 5 Series, and Mercedes-Benz E Class.
The majority of reviewers say the 2007 Cadillac STS offers fine performance, even coming close to the high standards set by leaders in the very competitive luxury sedan segment. MSN says the STS is "a sound alternative for those wanting a solidly built sports-luxury sedan with an accent on good old-fashioned American car luxury," but Automobile Magazine says "The STS is a nice car rather than a great one."
The 2007 Cadillac STS is a four-door, five-passenger luxury sedan available with a V6 or a V8 engine. The Chicago Tribune claims, "Cadillac boasts STS is as nimble as a BMW 5-Series. But to make good on that boast, you have to equip the STS properly. The package must include V-8, AWD, 18-inch Michelin radials designed for optimum handling and Magnetic Ride Control"
The STS is priced squarely in the middle of the luxury car pack, which includes top European competitors such as the BMW 5-Series, Mercedes E-Class, Audi A6, and the Japanese flagships Lexus GS and Infiniti M. Edmunds says "priced more like a smaller premium-badged car, the STS would seem to represent a good value. Of course, that would only be true if this Caddy could comfortably compete with cars like the E-Class." Automobile Magazine agrees, suggesting that the STS "will have to slug it out with cheaper cars, such as the excellent Chrysler 300."
According to IntelliChoice, the 2007 Cadillac STS receives a "poor" overall value rating, based on its five-year cost of ownership compared to others in its class.
