Cadillac STS Safety Review
Safety - 7.8 (Good)
The 2007 Cadillac STS is thoroughly outfitted with safety features and performs well in government and insurance industry crash tests.
Standard safety features include anti-lock disc brakes; stability control, a tire-pressure monitor and air bags are standard on every 2007 Cadillac STS. The air bags include front-seat side and full-length side curtains. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the STS its highest rating of "good" on frontal-offset crash testing, and the STS scores at least four out of five stars in every crash test performed by the federal government.
Accident Avoidance
The Cadillac STS accident avoidance system is largely well-liked, especially GM's Stabilitrak electronic stability control system, which selectively applies the brakes to individual wheels to keep the car going in the direction it is steered. MSN says, "the STS handled itself on twisting, narrow roads with accuracy and confidence." Car.com says, "The stability and traction control systems err on the side of safety yet aren't the least bit intrusive."
Crash Protection
Standard features include dual two-stage frontal air bags, front seat mounted side air bags and front-and-rear side curtain air bags, and four-wheel anti-lock brakes. The STS does well in government crash tests, earning four out of five stars for driver and passenger protection in frontal crashes. The STS also earned four out of five stars for front seat protection and five out of five stars for backseat protection in side-impact collisions, when equipped with side airbags.
