Chevrolet Malibu Safety Review

Safety - 9.6 (Excellent)

The Malibu scores well in both government and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety crash tests.  It also comes standard with dual-stage frontal, and front and rear side curtain air bags. Also standard is a passenger-sensing system for the front air bags. Most reviewers agree with New Car Test Drive that "the Malibu is designed well for safety."

Accident Avoidance

A standard driver-information center displays information about various car functions, including oil life and lock settings. Four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes with traction control are standard on the LTZ and SS and optional on the LS and LT.

Crash Protection

The 2007 Malibu comes standard with dual-stage frontal, and front and rear side curtain air bags. It shines in crash tests, receiving five out of five stars in government crash tests in frontal impacts for both the driver and the passenger. In side impacts, it receives five stars for the front and four stars for the rear. In addition, the Malibu received four stars in rollover tests. It gets a rating of "good" (the highest rating possible) from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.
