The Boston Globe sums up the view of the majority of automotive writers, saying "the 2007 Tahoe is Chevrolet's best SUV yet. The new Tahoe is so good, so efficient, so nicely appointed on the inside that folks are flocking to buy it." Auto writers from Kelley Blue Book say the "new Tahoe is a magnificent SUV." The 2007 Chevy Tahoe is a Consumer Guide Automotive "Best Buy" and a Motor Week Driver's Choice for "Best Large Utility."
Newsday adds that Chevrolet "has made this big truck easier to drive, less clumsy and just generally more pleasant to live with than its predecessors" and says "the changes make the new Tahoe and Yukon more than ever worthy of serious consideration for buyers still in the market for a big SUV despite rising gasoline prices." The San Jose Mercury News sums up the standpoint of a majority of reviewers. "For those who need a full-size SUV, the Tahoe remains a solid choice."
Most reviewers think that the base Tahoe offers a good value but note that adding options can make the price skyrocket. "The goodies come at a price," says the Chicago Tribune, adding, "No wonder GM makes so much profit on this vehicle." Still, Forbes finds that "when configured with similar options, the Tahoe closely matches the Ford Expedition, Toyota Sequoia and Nissan Armada in price." IntelliChoice agrees, and gives the base Tahoe LS an "excellent" value rating based on the predicted cost of ownership compared with others in its class. The Tahoe is also an IntelliChoice "Best in Class Winner" for lowest fuel and repair costs.
The Chevy Tahoe has three available trims: the base LS, the LT (which includes the LT1, LT2, and the LT3), and the top of the line LTZ. All trims are also available with 4WD.
