Chrysler 300-Series Exterior Review

Exterior - 9.1 (Excellent)

The 300's nostalgic and fierce exterior wins nearly universal praise for being what Edmunds calls "unmistakably American."

Edmunds adds that "large chrome grille, double-lens headlights, high beltline, bulging fenders and large wheels give it a strong presence on the road." MSN says the "big grille" is "reminiscent of the grille on the 1957 Chrysler 300C and 1958 300D," adding that the styling is "audacious," and "follows the practice of high-performance sedan producers such as Mercedes-Benz and BMW." Automobile Magazine reports that the 2007 Chrysler 300 exterior "gives it a real presence on the road," with "classic sedan proportions," a "high beltline, shallow glass area, and large wheel openings," the 300 has "a pleasingly aggressive stance." The 2007 Chrysler 300, "with its griddle grille, deep wheel wells, chopped roofline, and low, muscular stance, looked ferocious even its base model," claims the Boston Globe. "The 300 looks bold and imposing, flaunting a distinctive shape and riding a 120-inch wheelbase," according to Cars.com auto writers. "This is the classic large-sedan formula -- wrapped in provocative sheet metal and offered at an attractive price -- that Americans have always loved," states Automobile Magazine.

Road and Track finds the 2007 Chrysler 300C a "bona fide eye-catcher." "It's stately and mature, and yet powerful and compact-looking." The Detroit News points out the 2007 Chrysler 300 "actually has the most chrome on a Chrysler since the last 1960s." Car and Driver muses, "If science ever revives Al Capone, Chrysler has his car." Playboy sums up the 300's exterior in one sentence, "Chrysler has essentially created the impossible -- a reasonably priced car that looks like a million bucks."
