New 2007 Dodge Caliber Exterior Review [ 2009 , 2008 ]
Dodge Caliber Exterior Review
Exterior - 7.1 (Good)
The 2007 Dodge Caliber is a small hatchback with an aggressive design derived from Dodge's popular line of trucks. Kelley Blue Book says, "With unique proportions, sharp-curve styling and Dodge's signature crosshair grille, the Caliber is perhaps the most distinctive five-door/crossover/wagon offered in the sub-$20,000 arena." Motor Trend calls the design "an interesting bridge between hatchback sedan and crossover." Its appearance has generally been a hit with reviewers. It is available in three trim levels, SE, SXT and R/T, which make only minor adjustments to the exterior of the car. Although the Caliber is now Dodge's only offering in the small car class, the company has no plans to build a Caliber sedan or any other body type.
The 2007 Caliber's unique appearance wins it praise from many reviewers. "The Caliber is a nice-looking piece," writes Motor Trend. "Its muscular fender lines give it surface detail and an air of substance. The black plastic molding that runs along the roofline hides the drip rails, and the head- and taillight clusters have the expected jewel-like detailing." Edmunds calls the Caliber's unusually large tires on alloy wheels "a visual home run."
Caliber is available in three trims: a basic SE, a well-equipped SXT and a performance-oriented R/T. SE models include black plastic door handles and a body-colored grille. The SXT also uses black plastic door handles, but adds a chrome grille. R/T models include a spoiler, chrome door handles and a chrome grille.
