Dodge Charger Safety Review
Safety - 8.3 (Very Good)
Despite some reported problems with outward visibility, the 2007 Dodge Charger offers very good safety features for its class. In government crash tests, the Charger earns five stars out of five for frontal-impact protection and four stars out of five for the rear.
Automobile.com says, "I would be remiss not to mention the Charger's safety features, which are plentiful."
Accident Avoidance
The Dodge Charger comes standard with four-wheel disc brakes with ABS, traction control and stability control. Several reviewers noted visibility issues. "Long side windows aid visibility," writes Cars.com, "but the low roof and steep windshield can make it difficult to see some overhead traffic lights." And New Car Test Drive says, "A-pillars designed to meet roll-over standards are thick, which makes checking for pedestrians and crossing traffic becomes more difficult."
Crash Protection
The Charger's standard dual-front air bags, says Autoweb, "determine the size of the front passengers and modify air bag deployment accordingly." Dodge offers optional front and rear-side curtain air bags. There are also eight adjustable front seatbelts with pretensioners and an energy-absorbing steering column to protect the driver in case of an impact.
