Ford Crown Victoria Safety Review

Safety - 8.9 (Very Good)

While the Crown Victoria does not come with the cutting-edge safety features found in modern competition, it performs admirably in federal government crash tests.

Auto reviewers from Automobile Magazine report that one of "the downsides to the Crown Vic's advanced age is that it's missing some of the safety gear found in newer cars, although the large car has performed well in crash tests." In fact, the statistics support this conclusion, as the Crown Victoria earned a perfect five out of five stars in passenger, driver, side impact rear and rollover rating and protection in the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration crash testing. It also earned a top rating of "good" from the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety for crash offset test results.

Accident Avoidance

The Crown Victoria base model and LX trim are fitted with standard 4-wheel antilock disc brakes with electronic brake force distribution and the options of traction control and a power-adjustable brake pedal.

Crash Protection

The Crown Victoria base model and LX trim come with standard depowered driver and passenger air bags. The Crown Victoria LX is available with front seat-mounted side air bags.
