The Envoy delivers a spacious interior and outstanding towing capacity, but falls short of the handling, reliability and value offered by others in its class. If you're in the market for an affordable midsize SUV, you should also consider the Honda Pilot or GMC Acadia.
The 2007 GMC Envoy was launched in 2002 to replace the long-running GMC Jimmy. The Envoy receives minor changes for 2007, and the extended-wheelbase seven-passenger XL model has been discontinued. Edmunds says the Envoy "has all the right features to compete in this segment, as well as a comfortable ride and decent power. But you have to weigh this against the Envoy's sloppy handing and below-average interior build and materials quality. For some, the Envoy may still be an appealing choice, but most shoppers will be better served by its more refined competition." Likewise, Forbes advises buyers to keep looking if they "want something sportier, more stylish or more reliable."
Reviewers don't have much to say about the 2007 GMC Envoy's value, though those that do aren't impressed. Kelley Blue Book notes that "As for resale, the Envoy does not hold its value as well as the Toyota 4Runner, Volkswagen Touareg and Acura MDX. With the exception of the Denali, the Envoy six- and eight-cylinder models mirror the Ford Explorer and trail slightly behind the Dodge Durango in projected resale values." IntelliChoice gives the base model a value rating of "worse than average" for its predicted five-year total cost of ownership, compared with other vehicles in its class.
The GMC Envoy has three available trims: the base SLE, the SLT, and the top-of-the-line Denali. All models are available as a 2WD or as a 4WD.
Envoy Performance - 7.3 (Good)
The GMC Envoy receives generally good performance reviews, with New Car Test Drive noting it is "well-engineered and enjoyable to drive, stable and responsive with good brakes and a superb inline six-cylinder engine." However, others complain about the four-speed automatic transmission, sloppy handling, and low fuel economy. continue

The 2007 GMC Envoy receives little response from reviewers for exterior styling, though those who do speak out have few complaints, if any. Kelley Blue Book says, "The Envoy strikes a rugged yet refined pose that seems equally comfortable off-road or at valet parking." continue
Envoy Interior - 7.5 (Good)
Reviewers feel the 2007 GMC Envoy's five-seat interior offers plenty of room and easy-to-use controls, though some find the seats uncomfortable. Kelley Blue Book calls the interior "typical GMC: Simple and clean. The seating is firm, and the instrument panel controls are handsomely adorned with wood trim and sturdy black plastic." continue

The 2007 GMC Envoy has somewhat lacking crash test scores. However, the 2006 model brought in major safety improvements, including standard StabiliTrak electronic stability control, and for 2007, all Envoys also come equipped with a tire pressure monitoring system. continue
