GMC Yukon

Overall Score - 9.0 (Excellent)

The 2007 GMC Yukon delivers capable performance and a comfortable interior.

Redesigned for 2007, the GMC Yukon offers good performance, an understated exterior and a very comfortable, modern interior. Kelley Blue Book says, "Even if you don't need its maximum seating or towing capacities, the all-new Yukon shines on enough levels to satisfy the needs and tastes of almost any full-size SUV buyer," and Edmunds adds, "Among full-size SUVs, it's a compelling choice." The Yukon is a brute, with seating for up to nine (with optional third row and bench seats) and the ability to tackle most towing jobs (although some competitors can tow more). For 2007, the Yukon adds an upgraded interior that critics feel make the Yukon a more inviting place to be.

Despite the Yukon's price tag, buyers may find that they are in a strong bargaining position. Autobytel reports, "With big SUV sales stalled you're likely to get a big discount from sticker." Bear in mind, however, that due to the Yukon's fuel economy, some of the money saved at the dealership will be spent at the gas station. Still, in its class, the Yukon can be a great value. Consumer Guide suggests, "A carefully optioned Yukon SLE or SLT are our Best Buy values." IntelliChoice gives the Yukon an "Excellent" value rating, based on its estimated total cost of ownership over five years compared to others in its class. The Yukon SLE is also an IntelliChoice SmartChoice winner for lowest fuel costs, lowest operating costs, lowest ownership costs and lowest repair costs, when compared within its class.

Available in four models, the GMC Yukon can be configured to fit most buyers' tastes and needs. While the Yukon/Yukon XL models start under $40,000, prices quickly climb above $50,000 for the Denali/XL Denali models.
