GMC Yukon Safety Review
Safety - NA
When it comes to safety, the main thing the 2007 GMC Yukon has going for it is its size. The federal government gives the Yukon a five-star rating for frontal crash tests. CNET notes that "while this is admirable in any car, it is not too surprising for one this big." The Yukon only gets three out of five stars from the government in rollover safety.
Accident Avoidance
Despite mixed crash test results, the 2007 GMC Yukon comes with a number of standard accident avoidance features. GM's Stabilitrack traction control system is standard, as are four-wheel disc anti-lock brakes and a tire pressure monitoring system.
Crash Protection
Dual-stage front air bags with a front passenger sensing system are standard. GM has advanced side-curtain air bags that deploy during an impact or right before the vehicle rolls over. However, as advanced as those air bags are, they are not standard.
In government crash tests, the Yukon earns five out of five stars for driver and front passenger protection. The government has not tested the Yukon in side impact tests, but the SUV earns a three-star rollover rating.
