2007 Honda Accord Hybrid Safety Review
Honda Accord Hybrid Safety Review
Safety - 9.0 (Excellent)
The Accord Hybrid is a safe car in the opinion of reviewers and according to available crash test data. "Safety is a priority with this hybrid," says the Detroit News. The Accord Hybrid performed well in government crash tests. The IIHS hasn't tested the hybrid, but the regular Accord scores well.
As Automobile Magazine points out, "the Hybrid model benefits from the same safety technology found on the Accord EX V-6 sedan," which includes "dual-stage front airbags, dual front side airbags, and a side curtain airbag system," as well as "disc brakes at each corner, fitted with anti-lock and enhanced with electronic brake force distribution" and a traction control system.
Accident Avoidance
"Vehicle stability control is now standard," reports the Detroit News, "which beefs up an already great slate of safety features." Such accident-avoidance features include anti-lock disc brakes with brake force distribution and traction control. With these features, The Auto Channel says, "The Honda's sure-footed handling in the snow and ice was expected and welcomed."
Crash Protection
Dual-state front, side-impact and side-curtain airbags are standard on the Accord Hybrid, and crash test data points to the car being a safe bet. The government's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gives it five out of five stars in frontal crash tests and four out of five stars in side crash tests. The IIHS hasn't tested the hybrid, but a similarly equipped regular Accord is given a rating of "good," the highest possible rating.
