2007 Honda Pilot Safety Review [ 2009 , 2008 ]
Honda Pilot Safety Review
Safety - 9.8 (Excellent)
The 2007 Honda Pilot's excellent safety outlook is reflected in its perfect 5-star ratings for all government crash tests from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It also gets a "good" rating (the highest possible) from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
According to Edmunds, the Pilot provides a "solid collection of convenience and safety features." Meanwhile, the Seattle Post-Intelligencer blankets that sentiment with, "safety is a big element in all Honda vehicles."
Accident Avoidance
All trims of the 2007 Honda Pilot come with anti-lock brakes with brake assist and electronic brakeforce distribution. Pilots are also aided by vehicle stability assist with traction control, which used to be standard for only EX-L trims but now comes in all models.
Crash Protection
To best protect passengers in the event of a collision, all 2007 Honda Pilots come standard with three-point seat belts, with an automatic tensioning system for the front. Outboard second-row seats have the LATCH system for children, and the third row has child-seat tether anchors as well. The Pilot has dual stage, dual threshold front air bags, front side air bags (with an occupant position detection system for the passenger side), and three-row side curtain air bags with rollover sensors. The Pilot also has side-impact door beams and built-in crumple zones.
Not only did the 2007 Honda Pilot receive five out of five stars from NHTSA, but it has also been tested and found by the IIHS to have a 16 percent chance of rollover, to go along with its "good" IIHS ratings score in frontal and side-impact crash tests.
