Hyundai Sonata Exterior Review

Exterior - 7.1 (Good)

Overall, reviewers are pleased -- not astounded -- with the Hyundai Sonata's exterior body-styling. Reviewers at Kelley Blue Book report that although they "don't see any single design feature likely to turn anybody away," its styling is still "squarely on the safe side." To Motor Trend, "it's remarkably tasteful--a nice change for a brand that's often struggled in this area."

Generally speaking, reviewer apathy is across the board. "To start with, the car looks good, managing to thread the needle between controversial (as in the Honda Accord's droopy butt) and boring (we're looking at you, Ford Five Hundred)," says Automobile Magazine. Edmunds agrees, adding, "We're not sure this is an altogether bad thing, but Hyundai would probably be better off giving the Sonata a more distinct look." Kelley Blue Book sums it best, "The Hyundai Sonata features significantly more contemporary styling than previous generations, though some might argue the design is also somewhat generic."

Exterior Trims

GLS

Standard exterior features on the Sonata GLS include heated dual-power mirrors, jeweled projector-lense headlights, and 16-in. steel wheels with full wheel covers. Available options for the GLS include fog lights and a power tilt-and-slide sunroof.

SE and Limited

Standard and optional exterior features on the V6 SE and Limited are similar to the GLS -- with the added exception of standard fog lights and 17-in. aluminum-alloy wheels. According to MSN, "V6 even have chromed dual exhaust outlets, which signal that this car is no pushover."
