Infiniti FX
Overall Score - 8.8 (Very Good)
The FX delivers one of the best combinations of sporty performance and handling in its class. If you're in the market for a luxury midsize SUV, you should also consider the Lexus RX 350 and the Acura MDX.
In the 2007 FX, Infiniti comes through on its reputation for adding genuinely sporty driving to luxury cars. Critics find the FX to be a pleasantly distinctive-looking SUV with the light and nimble handling of a sports sedan. "Ever since its debut a few years back," writes Edmunds, "the Infiniti FX35 has been known as a sport sedan in SUV clothing." Though reviewers feel it lacks seating and cargo space relative to other SUVs, the Chicago Sun-Times points out the Infiniti FX "can be considered a roomy substitute for a good sports sedan."
Kelley Blue Book believes that both "the FX35 and FX45 are expected to retain high resale and residual values, a few percentage points behind the Acura MDX, Mercedes Benz ML and BMW X5, but slightly better than the Cadillac SRX." IntelliChoice gives the 2007 FX an "average" value rating for its potential five-year total cost of ownership, compared to vehicles in its class.
The 2007 Infiniti FX comes in two main trims: the base FX35 and the FX45. The FX35 is available in Rear-Wheel Drive and All-Wheel Drive (AWD) versions, whereas the FX45 comes exclusively as an AWD.
FX Performance - 8.2 (Very Good)
Reviewers agree the 2007 Infiniti FX has surprisingly sports car-like performance, in part due to its light weight. According to Edmunds, "You need just a few minutes behind the wheel of the FX35 to realize that Nissan's claim of near-sports-car handling is virtually true." Despite being an SUV, the FX is not intended for off-road performance, but drives well in the snow. continue
FX Exterior - 7.9 (Good)
Reviewers give the 2007 Infiniti FX kudos for the originality of its styling, which resembles that of no other SUV on the market. "Infiniti's FX35 and FX45 crossover SUVs actually look more like sports cars than light-duty trucks," says Kelley Blue Book. continue
FX Interior - 7.3 (Good)
Reviewers agree that the 2007 Infiniti FX is an SUV that travels light. This gives it sports car speed, handling and appearance, but also means that it lacks some interior space compared to other SUVs. FX Safety - 9.3 (Excellent)
The 2007 Infiniti FX has a number of innovative safety features, but many of them are optional with the extra-cost Technology Package. Regardless, the Chicago Sun-Times observes that "Infiniti hasn't stinted on safety" and other reviewers agree. continue
