Reliability

The 2007 Mazda MAZDA5 reliability score of 7.0 out of 10 is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).

Mazda offers a basic warranty for three years or 36,000 miles. The Mazda5 also comes with a powertrain warranty that covers the first five years or 60,000 miles.

Reliability data is scarce for the wagon as it is only a year old, but several reviewers do mention "sales momentum of the Mazda5 was hurt in fall 2005 when the vehicle was recalled because of reports of fires connected to the exhaust system," as MSN reports. "Mazda has since corrected the problem, which flared when drivers with manual transmissions kept their vehicles in lower gears during highway-speed driving."
