Government crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration award the 2007 Mazda RX-8 a score of 4 of 5 stars in front-crash tests for driver protection and the same score in side-crash tests. The RX-8 gets a perfect score of 5 stars for front passenger protection in front crash tests and rollover tests.

Accident Avoidance

The 2007 Mazda RX-8 comes outfitted with ventilated front/rear brakes, as well as a four-wheel anti-lock brake system (ABS) and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD). While Dynamic Stability Control and Traction Control systems are package options for the RX-8 Sport, they come standard on the Touring and Grand Touring. Also standard is a tire pressure monitoring system.

Crash Protection

Crash protection features standard on every RX-8 include driver and front passenger front/side/curtain air bags and three-point front seat belts with pretensioners and force limiters.
