2007 Mercedes-Benz M [ 2008 ]
Mercedes-Benz M
Overall Score - 8.2 (Very Good)
The 2007 Mercedes M-Class delivers luxury and confident handling but can't match the base power or reliability of others in its class. If you're in the market for a luxury midsize SUV, you should also consider the BMW X5 and Infiniti FX.
The 2007 Mercedes-Benz M-Class earns a very good overall score based on auto reviewers' consensus that it's a comfortable yet practical all-wheel-drive SUV that packs in enough power for use as a daily driver or for off-road adventures. Consumer Guide says, "The highly refined, rock solid and engaging-to-drive M-Class is what a premium mid-size five-passenger SUV ought to be." Though it comes with a high sticker price, buyers looking for a spacious interior, reasonable off-road performance, and plenty of modern, high-tech amenities will find the M-Class ideal.
Edmunds notes that the 2007 Mercedes M-Class is priced high within its class. "The only ... issue that will likely give you pause is price," the reviewer says. "Equipped with a fair number of options, the M can often end up being one of the more expensive vehicles in this segment." However, resale value is also high. Kelley Blue Book says, "As with most Mercedes-Benz products, the M-Class is expected to hold strong five-year residual values, higher than the Cadillac SRX and Volvo XC90, but not as high as the BMW X5 and Acura MDX." But ownership costs may detract from that value. IntelliChoice gives the base ML350 a value rating of "average" for its predicted five-year total cost of ownership, compared with other vehicles in its class.
The 2007 Mercedes-Benz M-Class is available in four main trims: the base ML350, the ML320 CDI, the ML500 and the ultra-premium ML63 AMG.
