2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor Safety Review [ 2008 ]
Mitsubishi Endeavor Safety Review
Safety - 8.3 (Very Good)
The 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor has performed well on most safety tests, though some tests have yet to be performed. All of the safety features available on the Endeavor are standard equipment -- there are no optional features. Standard features include traction control and side air bags
Accident Avoidance
Mitsubishi includes a Traction Control system on front-wheel-drive Endeavors, and a separate stability control system, called Active Skid and Traction Control system, on all-wheel-drive models. Anti-lock brakes with brake force distribution are standard on all trim levels, and receive praise from reviewers. All Endeavors come with standard anti-lock brakes with brake force distribution, which reviewers found very solid. "We wish all vehicles had brakes this good," gushes Motor Week, "the four-wheel disc returned a commendable 60 to 0 average of 123-feet."
New for 2007 is a standard tire pressure monitoring system which warns the driver of dangerously low pressure in any tire.
Crash Protection
The 2007 Mitsubishi Endeavor offers dual-stage front air bags for both front-seat passengers, which inflate at differing speeds for different impacts. Front-seat mounted side air bags protect the torsos of front-seat occupants from side impacts. Side head curtain air bags, which are designed to remain inflated after a rollover accident, are also standard equipment. Front seat belts include pretensioners.
In government crash tests, the 2007 Endeavor was awarded a perfect 5 out of 5 stars for protecting the driver in a front-impact crash, and 4 out of 5 for the front-seat passenger. The Endeavor received 5 of 5 stars for its ability to protect all passengers in a side-impact collision. Rollover tests are yet to be performed on the 2007 Endeavor. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) awarded the 2007 Endeavor its highest score, "good," for protecting all passengers in frontal offset crash testing. The IIHS has not performed side-impact testing on the Endeavor. While the 2007 model hasn't yet had rear crash tests performed, the 2006 model received a poor rating for rear-impact collisions.
