Saturn Aura Safety Review

Safety - 9.1 (Excellent)

In addition to a long list of standard safety features, the 2007 Saturn Aura also scores very well in government crash tests. The Aura received 5 stars out of 5 for driver and passenger safety in front-end collision tests and 5 stars out of 5 for driver and passenger safety in side crashes. The Aura received a rollover rating of 4 stars out of 5.

Accident Avoidance

The Saturn Aura XE, XR and Green Line come standard with four-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System (ABS). The XE and XR come standard with power rack-and-pinion steering and the Aura Green Line has electric power steering with variable assist. The Green Line and XR come with StabiliTrak Stability Control. One reviewer notes a visibility issue. "Wide windshield posts partially block visibility when turning corners," says MSN.

Crash Protection

MSN reports that the Aura is equipped with "OnStar assistance, front-seat side airbags and side-curtain airbags." OnStar with a one-year Safe and Sound Service Plan is standard on all Aura models. The front seat of the Aura is also equipped with dual-stage front and passenger air bags with Passenger Sensing System. There are also front and rear crumple zones and Lower Anchorages and Top Teathers for Children (LATCH) in the backseat. "Among the Aura's standard safety features are four adjustable and lockable head restraints," says MSN. "There is, however, no head restraint for the middle person riding in the Aura's back seat."
