Scion tC Exterior Review

Exterior - 8.2 (Very Good)

Almost all reviews feature the words "blank canvas" to describe the 2007 Scion tC coupe hatchback, but don't use the word "blank" to mean lack of quality -- the popular opinion is that the tC's canvas is a great launching pad. In the words of About.com, "The whole effect is very modern, sleek and clean, but tasteful and not flashy."

The 2007 Scion tC base model is 55 inches off the ground with an arched roof from the base of the windshield to the bottom of the back glass. The front has "an aggressive" front fascia, "swept-back" headlights, and a mesh grille, as described by Cars.com. The tC's front is accented with turn-signal indicator lights on the side mirrors, an "upscale" touch in Cars.com's opinion. Upscale was also a popular word to describe the 2007 Scion tC's tinted-glass panoramic roof, which can be tilted up or fully opened and provides an up-top view for both front and rear passengers. Auto Mall USA recalls the roof as "an unexpected bonus in this price class," and appreciates how the glass' tint "filters 97 percent of UV rays and 100 percent of infrared to avoid sunburned occupants."

Some reviewers are dissatisfied with the 2007 Scion tC's long doors, which the Chicago Sun-Times worried could "be a problem in tight parking spots," but Auto Mall USA's attention to detail was pleased with the "reach-around-and-pull-variety" door handles.

For 2007, Scion tC added a SPEC trim model, a simpler, less expensive version of the base model prime for customization. Whereas the base model sports 17-inch wheels, the tC SPEC sports 16-inch, and trades the tC's power moonroof for plain glass.
