Subaru B9 Tribeca Exterior Review

Exterior - 6.6 (Mediocre)

The 2007 Subaru Tribeca's exterior styling divides reviewers. Though most approve of the Tribeca's innovative style, others, such as the Detroit News, describe it as "bizarre" and "ambiguous." Some, however, such as the Los Angeles Times, find it "cool" and "sexy."

Many applaud the fact that Subaru has steered far from its usual design with the Tribeca and attempted something bold and innovative, while others are not sure what to make of it. Many reviewers take note of the fact that its style resembles that of an Alfa Romeo, rather than a typical Subaru. According to MSN, "Its grille theme looks as if it's from sexy, classic Italian Alfa Romeo sports models of the 1950s and 1960s, although Subaru says the theme is from the aircraft heritage of its parent company, Fuji Heavy Industries."

The Washington Post explains that "Subaru has reverted to its tradition of quirky exterior styling on this one. The front end -- with its bold nose and abutted winged grille -- looks aggressive and purposeful." However, Motor Trend remarks that "the face might not be for everyone." Despite various reviewers who find the styling to be a turn-off, many like the Tribeca's design, praising it as sleek and bold, and U.S. News reviewer Rick Newman gives it a "hot" rating "because it's different, not especially elegant."

To spice up the exterior, the optional Special Edition Accessory Package offers a chrome mesh grille and 18-inch chrome-finished alloy wheels.
