Subaru Impreza Wagon Exterior Review

Exterior - NA

A portion of reviewers find the exterior of the Impreza Wagon uninspired, despite its major makeover just a year ago. "Some reviewers have described the new Subaru look in unflattering terms. We're indifferent," says New Car Test Drive. "It certainly would not deter us from owning one of these cars."

Kelley Blue Book gives a rundown of the changes, reporting: "The Impreza's exterior received a complete makeover last year, with tinted headlamps flanking a three-piece mesh grille. A new hood, wider fender flares and new wheels completed the transformation." The result is an exterior that garners at least a little praise. BusinessWeek, for instance, writes, "The Imprezas are also very clean, appealing-looking little cars."

The 2.5i Sport and WRX Sport have different styling cues. "At first glance, the 2.5i Sport Wagon isn't what you'd call an appetizing proposition. The Wagon's snout-mounted upside-down Alfa-Romeo radiator-hole looks decidedly indelicate," determines The Truth About Cars. However, "the 2.5i's got a more graceful front end than the WRX Sports Wagon, whose hood scoop gives it a nostrilly appearance that only Prince Charles could truly love." The Washington Post calls the WRX Sport "one of those babies you say nice things about out of politeness and respect for the parents."
