The 2007 Impreza Wagon has a standard all-wheel-drive system to help avoid accidents. Kelley Blue Book writes, "A quick trip into snow country is all you need to understand the appeal of owning a Subaru. The minute the road conditions get slick, the all-wheel-drive system comes immediately into play, and you can feel the extra traction as the vehicle muscles its way through the ever-deepening drifts."
Accident Avoidance
Standard anti-lock brakes have four sensors and channels, and electronic brake-force distribution ensures that the most force is delivered to the wheel or wheels with the best traction. The best accident-avoidance feature, however, is the all-wheel-drive system. "In the rain, driving the Sports Wagon is like playing football on a muddy field wearing cleats -- when everyone else is slipping around in sneakers," says The Truth About Cars.
Crash Protection
The Impreza Wagon comes standard with dual front air bags and front side-impact air bags, as well as seatbelt pre-tensioners. In government crash tests conducted by the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, the Impreza Wagon received four out of five stars for driver front-impact protection and five out of five stars for passenger front-impact protection. As for side-impact tests, the Impreza Wagon received four out of five stars. It also performed well in tests conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, which bestowed the highest possible rating of "good."
