Subaru Impreza Exterior Review

Exterior - NA

The 2007 Subaru Impreza's last major redesign was in 2002, but Subaru made a few changes to have a more uniform look for its three small sedans. Despite the remodeling, most agree that the aging Impreza has fallen behind competitors' modern styling. As Road and Track sums up for many reviews, "While establishing a family identity is a good thing, the WRX, in our opinion, wasn't in dire need of new headlights, cluster-style taillights or the [Subaru Impreza] STi's rocker panels."

The Impreza is also available as a wagon and a sport coupe, the WRX STI (discussed in separate reviews).

The 2007 Subaru Impreza's 2.5i sedan was slightly changed to look more like the Impreza WRX STi sports car model -- it now has low and high-beam halogen headlights, an aluminum alloy hood, integrated front spoiler and corner spoilers, body-color door handles and a power tilt/sliding glass moonroof. It sits on 16-inch all-season wheels with 16-inch, five-spoke aluminum alloy wheels with silver finish. The 2007 Subaru Impreza's WRX and WRX TR have 17-inch all-season wheels, and provides the option to add a rear spoiler, heated side mirrors and windshield wipers with a de-icing function.

The most noted changes are to the WRX model, according to reviews. Car and Driver notes that the WRX's front now looks somewhat like the Subaru Tribeca's front. "This quite possibly makes the unlovely WRX even more so," the reviewer declares, "but we've always accepted this ugly but fleet-footed duck."

Auto Mall USA is a fan of the WRX's changes. The review notes that the 17-inch spoke wheels "add purpose," and especially enjoys the paint job. "The body-colored side mirrors, new smoked light lenses and softly shimmering paint...meld to create a jewel-like finish that would flatter cars costing twice as much."
