Suzuki Forenza

Overall Score - 6.5 (Mediocre)

The Forenza is a basic, budget-friendly car for around-town travel, but lacks the safety and engine power of others in its class. If you're in the market for an affordable small car, you should also consider the Honda Civic and Honda Fit.

For an economy car, the 2007 Suzuki Forenza offers a spacious interior, but little else to differentiate it from the competition.  On the positive side, most reviewers agree with Consumer Guide, which describes the Forenza as having "an impressive list of standard features" and being "roomier than most compact-sedan rivals."  On the negative side, engine performance and fuel economy fall to the bottom of the Forenza's class.

Suzuki markets the Forenza, above all, on its price tag.  New Car Test Drive says that "the Forenza sedan is designed to offer a strong value in a sea of value-priced compact sedans." Kelley Blue Book adds, "If you're looking for an alternative to the higher-priced Japanese imports, as well as a hint of European flavoring both inside and out, the Forenza deserves a good look." But with an underpowered engine and a base price rivaled by the higher rated Honda Fit and Mazda3, among others, the Forenza has a tough climb to prove its worth.

IntelliChoice gives the 2007 Suzuki Forenza four-door sedan a value rating of "poor" for its predicted five-year cost of ownership compared to other vehicles in its class, primarily due to poor resale values.

The 2007 Suzuki Forenza is available as a sedan and as a wagon. The sedan comes in one trim level, with two optional packages: the "Convenience" package and the "Popular" package. The Forenza is available with either a manual or an automatic transmission.

Forenza Performance - 6.0 (Mediocre)

The Forenza offers decent performance for around town driving, but little else. Car and Driver's auto writer jokes, "I produce more horsepower buttering my toast than the Forenza's four-banger does." continue

Forenza Exterior - 7.5 (Good)

Reviewers are generally in agreement on the exterior styling of the 2007 Suzuki Forenza, which is heralded as an attractive car in a class in which styling tends to be rather uniform.  The Forenza received a much-needed exterior update in 2006. continue

Forenza Interior - 7.3 (Good)

Consensus on the interior of the five-seat Suzuki Forenza is that it is roomy, convenient and filled with features that aren't usually standard on other cars in its class.  But most test drivers find the seats uncomfortable and the quality of materials debatable. continue

Forenza Safety - 6.2 (Mediocre)

The Suzuki Forenza is equipped with basic safety features. However, its performance in crash tests is less than impressive. Though the Forenza earned 4 out of 5 stars in both frontal and side impacts in government crash tests, the agency classifies the rear seat as "safety concern" in side crash tests. continue

Forenza Reliability - 4.0 (Mediocre)

The 2007 Suzuki Forenza reliability score shown is the Predicted Reliability rating provided by J.D. Power and Associates. This score is based on trending the past three years of historical initial quality and dependability data from J.D. Power's automotive studies, specifically the Vehicle Dependability Study (VDS) and the Initial Quality Study (IQS).
