Toyota Tundra Safety Review

Safety - 9.5 (Excellent)

Government crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) award the 2007 Toyota Tundra a score of 4 out of 5 stars for driver protection in front impact crashes and 4 out of 5 stars for front passenger protection. The Tundra has not been rated for side impacts.

Accident Avoidance

Standard accident avoidance features on the Tundra include the Star Safety System, with vehicle stability control (VSC), traction control (TRAC), four-wheel disc anti-lock brake system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), and brake assist. In addition, the Tundra offers a back-up camera system with a miniature camera in the tailgate latch that is linked to a monitor in the overhead console to improve rearward view while backing up and to help when hitching a trailer.

Crash Protection

Standard crash protection features on the Tundra include driver/passenger advanced airbags with occupant classification system and passenger cutoff switch, driver/passenger seat mounted side airbags, roll-sensing side curtain airbags, three-point seatbelts in all seating positions, and child restraint system top tether anchors. The Tundra "is well-equipped with standard safety features," says Cars.com.
