Volkswagen Passat Wagon Safety Review
Safety - 8.6 (Very Good)
Auto reviewers are generally pleased with the long list of standard safety features that come with the Passat. Government crash tests conducted by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded the 2007 Volkswagen Passat Wagon 4 of 5 stars for both driver and front passenger protection in frontal impacts. The Passat Wagon was not rated for side impact.
Accident Avoidance
Standard accident avoidance features include four-wheel disc brakes, with an anti-lock brake system (ABS) and automatic disc wiping to keep brake discs dry and clean in wet conditions, an electronic stability system, a tire pressure monitoring system, adaptive cruise control and LED tailights which are brighter and faster-acting than regular light bulbs.
Crash Protection
Standard crash protection features include a strong chassis and frame, six air bags, including frontal- and side-impact air bags for the front seats and side curtain air bags. Rear-seat side-impact air bags are optional. Also included on the base model are active-adjustable head restraints for all five passengers, and anchors for a child-safety seat.
