Volkswagen Touareg Safety Review

Safety - 9.3 (Excellent)

In government crash tests, the 2007 Touareg earned 5 stars (the highest rating possible) in all crash protection categories and 4 stars in rollover ratings. Reviewers say it offers excellent accident avoidance and crash protection features.

Accident Avoidance

To help drivers avoid accidents, the 2007 Volkswagen Touareg comes with full-time 4XMotion four-wheel drive and anti-lock brakes with brake assist and electronic brake force distribution, as well as an electronic stability program and an anti-slip regulator. The Touareg also has an available rearview camera, to help drivers avoid backing into people or objects.

Crash Protection

To protect occupants in the event of a crash, the 2007 Volkswagen Touareg comes with front and side air bags for the front seats and side curtain air bags for the entire cabin. The Touareg also has Volkswagen's Intelligent Crash Response System. After a crash is detected, the system shuts off the fuel, disconnects the battery and unlocks the vehicle doors, allowing passengers to make a safe exit.
