Volvo S60 Exterior Review

Exterior - 7.6 (Good)

Reviewers are generally pleased that the days of boxy Volvos are long gone and are happy with the style of the 2007 Volvo S60, last redesigned in 2001. The Chicago Tribune says the S60 "is rock-solid evidence that you can still wrap yourself in a Volvo to feel safe and secure, but now you also can be fashionable."

Forbes says "the S60 remains visually alluring, if not outright seductive, with its arcing roofline." Kelley Blue Book says "the S60's shape is defined by its sharpened V-shaped hood and trunk lines that join to form a truly attractive sport sedan." With the current body design a few years old now, some reviewers think the cache of the 2007 Volvo S60 is diminishing.

The high-end S60R trim has a slightly different appearance, including a longer hood, and a larger air dam for its twin intercoolers. Car and Driver says "there are plenty of visual cues to differentiate the R from lesser S60s, all of which transform the R into quite a looker." One of those cues happens to be a standard rear spoiler, which reduces lift by 20 percent.

Wheel sizes also differ by model. The S60T uses 16-inch by 7-inch Eurus Alloy wheels, the turbo S60 T5 uses 16-inch by 6.5-inch Echo Alloy wheels, and the S60R comes with larger 17-inch by 8-inch Pegasus five-spoke Alloy wheels.
