Safety - What the Auto Press Says
Audi's A6 Avant has lots of safety features to prevent accidents and protect occupants in the event of one. However, the wagon has not yet been crash tested, so how well the available safety features work isn't known.
Accident Avoidance
The 2008 Audi A6 Avant has Quattro permanent all-wheel drive and a standard tire pressure monitoring system. Stopping power comes from anti-lock brakes with electronic rear brake pressure proportioning and vacuum power assist. The A6 Avant also has an electronic stability program.
Crash Protection
Just in case a crash occurs, the A6 Avant offers Sideguard TM head protection air bags for the front and rear. Rear side air bags are optional. Another optional feature is a lane assist system that sends vibrations to the steering wheel to alert the driver when the car leaves its lane.
