Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Audi Q7 has a distinctive and massive look that some auto writers feel is appealing, but that others find disappointing. Some call it striking, while the Detroit News thinks the Q7 has "hideous exterior styling."

Most reviewers agree that the Q7 has the distinctive Audi appearance. "The styling of the Audi Q7 offers no surprises, just typical Audi class," says New Car Test Drive. The New York Times "Like all contemporary Audis, the Q7 has that puckered, sour-mouth grille that suggests Charlie Chaplin's mustache when he's sucking a lemon." Elaborating on that theme, Ward's AutoWorld says that "[t]he Q7 boasts Audi's new face, which is dominated by a grille so large as to appear disproportionate to the rest of the vehicle." Edmunds describes it as "buck-toothed."

On the other end of the spectrum, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution feels "[t]he exterior styling has a sort of richness to it, while making no apologies for being an SUV." Forbes falls completely in love with the new look. "The Q7 is flat-out beautiful both inside and out. Its arced roofline and sculpted haunches are pleasing to the eye," the reviewer raves.
