Audi S5 - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Audi S5 impresses with its combination of sports performance and luxurious exterior and interior design. Its only major downside, however, is its below-average fuel economy.

The S5 is quite simply a superb luxury sports car. "There is so much eye candy in the overall design of the Audi S5 coupe that it's easy to overlook what's beneath the sleek shape -- a hard-charging, road gripping German tourer of the first order," says Road and Track. Still, the S5 is not perfect. Reviewers complain about its sub-par fuel economy and non-sliding sunroof. Its Multi-Media Interface (MMI) system, however, is praised for being much easier to operate than those of its competitors -- especially BMW's iDrive.

  • "What the Audi brings to the party is a real sense of style -- a combination of sculpted metal and striking interior design that makes driving it a special experience. Isn't that what coupes are all about?" -- Car and Driver
  • "This machine brings out the best Audi offers: Sophisticated but understated design, superior performance through science and technology and a passion for the open road only truly understood in a country with no speed limits." -- Detroit News
  • "At roughly $55K, it's pricey but not stupid-pricey -- you'll feel well-compensated for your investment. Alas, our test car is already gone. And I'm still hungry for more." -- Motor Trend
