Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The 2008 BMW 1-Series has not been crash tested by either the federal government or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. But similar to all BMWs, the 1-Series offers a comprehensive list of standard safety equipment. In addition, reviews note the coupe's design does not interfere with visibility.
Safety Features
- "As it is now (and as it should be for most drivers), lift-throttle oversteer is non-existent and throttle-on oversteer is near impossible to induce. In other words, if you crash one of these, you've probably done something really stupid." -- The Car Connection
- "Thin pillars in the coupe provide fine visibility to all directions, though wide front headrests can get in the way when backing." -- Consumer Guide
- "Brake lights react to braking force in two stages, bright and brighter to announce heavy braking to following motorists." -- The Auto Channel
