Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The 2008 BMW Z4 does well in federal government crash tests. It also comes with quite a variety of accident avoidance equipment.
The Z4 earns four out of five stars for both driver and passenger safety in frontal crash tests. It also gets a five-star rollover rating. While the coupe has yet to be tested in side-impact crash tests, the roadster earns four out of five stars in driver-side side-impact crashes.
Accident Avoidance
The Z4 comes standard with several accident avoidance systems, including Dynamic Stability Control with Brake Fade Compensation, Start-Off Assistant, Brake Drying, Cornering Brake Control, adaptive brake lights, and Brake Stand-by features with Dynamic Traction Control. The Z4 also gets run-flat tires.
Crash Protection
To protect passengers in a crash, the Z4 provides a dual air bag supplementary restraint system, automatic safety belt pretensioners, Active Knee Protection, and side-impact air bags.
