Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Cadillac Escalade EXT does very well in federal government crash tests. According to CNET, Escalade occupants can rest assured that they're "pretty safe in their bling fortress."

The 2008 EXT earns five out of five stars for driver and passenger protection in front impact crashes. It also receives five stars for the front and rear seat in side impacts.

Accident Avoidance

Standard accident avoidance features on the EXT include a computer-controlled, four-channel electronic stability control system with rollover mitigation; traction control; a Bosch 8.0 anti-lock braking system, and ultrasonic rear parking assist, which provides an audible alert to the presence of objects behind the vehicle. Of the latter, Newsday notes, "The rear obstacle detection and warning system is standard, as some believe it ought to be in all light trucks to help prevent back-over deaths of children."

Crash Protection

The EXT comes standard with front passenger, dual-stage air bags and a passenger detection system, plus curtain side air bags in first, second and third rows.
