Safety - What the Auto Press Says

The 2008 Cadillac SRX does well in federal government crash tests, though its frontal crash scores falls short of many competitors.

The SRX gets four out of five stars for both driver and passenger safety in frontal crash tests. In side crash tests, it gets top five-star ratings for the front- and rear-seat safety. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety gives the 2008 model a "Good" rating (the highest possible) in frontal crash tests.

Accident Avoidance

As The Auto Channel explains, "Safety is the number one priority, and the Cadillac SRX hosts safety features throughout the design." Standard accident avoidance features include 4-wheel antilock brakes, StabiliTrak and traction control. The Auto Channel likes the Traction Control and StabiliTrak Electronic Control System, which can reduce the risk of a "fatality accident," and BusinessWeek explains that as a result of its standard stability control, the SRX should be "less prone to rollover than a big SUV."

Crash Protection

The 2008 Cadillac SRX comes standard with dual-stage frontal and side-impact air bags for the driver and right-front passenger, and head-curtain, side-impact air bags for front and rear outboard seating positions.
