Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

The Colorado's exterior earns it more praise than any other attribute, and it places near the top of its class for its design. A reviewer for the Detroit News says, "I love the exterior styling, especially that bold Chevy family face," calling it "a nice, tough look that seems appropriate for this vehicle."

Kelley Blue Book adds, "If you like the rugged, bold look of the full-size Silverado, but want it in a smaller package, check out the Colorado." Similarly, AutoWeek calls the styling "sculpted to match the full-size trucks with which they'll share dealership space."

Not all reviewers are hugely impressed, but even the least enthusiastic don't level much in the way of criticism. New Car Test Drive says, "The leading edge of the front fender flares isn't finished elegantly, but otherwise the Colorado has a clean, modern look." PickupTruck.com calls the Colorado "sort of good-looking in a mid-west farmer kind of way." The closest thing to a negative opinion comes from the San Jose Mercury News, which finds, "There's nothing about the design that stands out."

Otherwise, reviewers tend to agree with USA Today that "styling is generally appealing" on the Colorado. "Styling is a strong point for the Chevy Colorado, as its distinctive front fascia mimics the look of Chevy's full-size trucks and SUVs. Some versions of the Colorado also sport aggressive wheel flares and monochromatic exterior paint schemes," writes Edmunds. "The look is a real head-turner," asserts the Arizona Republic, "combining Chevrolet's latest truck styling cues with the flared fenders of an off-road racer."

The Colorado is available as a regular cab model, an extended cab, or as a crew cab.
