Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
Reviewers generally agree that the 2008 Chevrolet Equinox is a large vehicle for its class. "In compact SUV terms, the Chevy Equinox is enormous," says Kelley Blue Book. The majority of reviewers also find the exterior styling agreeable and attractive.
Whether the Equinox should be considered a large "compact SUV" or a small "midsize SUV" is a matter of debate. At about 189 inches in length, the Equinox falls almost directly in the middle of those two vehicle classes. Its price, however, places it more squarely in the compact class, making it a comparative value based on size alone.
It is observed that Chevrolet appears to have played it safe with the exterior styling of the Equinox. However, despite the lack of many innovative exterior features, reviewers find little fault with the vehicle's outer appearance. The Chevy Equinox has "muscular good looks," says Kelley Blue Book, and New Car Test Drive adds, "The Equinox looks solidly planted on its wheels."
The major exterior difference between LS and LT models is LS models are trimmed in black and charcoal trim and LS models feature body-color trim. Sport models also get special exterior features, including a lower stance, no roof rack, and high-polished aluminum wheels.
