Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

Reviewers agree that the 2008 Impala's exterior body style is pleasant, but very plain. In fact, Car and Driver asserts that "its styling is inoffensive to the point of being nonexistent."

While USA TODAY calls it "conservative," the Chicago Tribune complains that it "lacks styling pizzazz." Nevertheless, BusinessWeek says it's "handsome." All in all, "People see it, like it and respect it...but no one drools," says the Washington Post.

Exterior Trims

LS

Standard exterior features on the Impala LS include galvanized steel body panels, halogen headlamps, light-tinted solar-ray glass windows, power mirrors, rocker moldings, flat-design windshield wipers and 16-inch bolt-on wheel covers. Optional for the LS, and all models, are body-side moldings.

1LT

With the exception of an optional rear spoiler and 16-inch five-spoke cast-aluminum wheels, the exterior body styling of the 1LT is the same as the LS.

2LT

Additional standard exterior features on the 2LT include fog lamps, a rear spoiler and 17-inch machined-aluminum wheels.

LTZ

With the exception of standard power heated side mirrors and 18-inch machined-aluminum wheels, the LTZ's exterior body styling is the same as the 2LT.

The Impala SS maintains a standard SS-specific rear spoiler, as well as optional heated mirrors and 18-inch chrome aluminum wheels. All else is similar to the Impala LTZ.
