Exterior - What the Auto Press Says
Reviewers report the Malibu's exterior has been made over to impress. Although its new design does not score as high as Honda Accord's two-door coupe, the Malibu is the best scoring four-door sedan in the affordable midsize class. Among reviews, only Automobile Magazine subdues its praise for the car's new look.
- "The car looks good without trying to be something that it isn't." -- Washington Post
- "The new 'Bu, built on GM's Opel-engineered Epsilon platform (112.3-inch wheelbase) and essentially a mechanical clone of the Saturn Aura, is a fine-drawn and harmonious design, pretty but chastened with Teutonic seriousness, with a C-pillar traced from Audi's design studies. Some of the exacting exterior details -- such as the 'trapped' hood fitting inside an opening instead of closing clamshell style over the grille -- give the car a clean and composed look. This, of course, is a major improvement over the previous-generation Malibu, which looked like it was styled on an Etch-a-Sketch by blindfolded barbers." -- Los Angeles Times
- "The Malibu may also be the best looking of the current midsize sedans, with elegant lines, purposeful hood and a bold twin-port grille bearing a proud gold Chevrolet badge." -- Detroit Free Press
- "It's handsome and distinctive, and unquestionably better looking than the previous Malibu. But so is Michael Jackson." -- Automobile Magazine
