Exterior - What the Auto Press Says

According to reviewers, the 2008 Chevrolet Uplander can't make up its mind whether it wants to look like a minivan or an SUV, but most feel that they can see through its SUV pretenses. "Chevrolet would be happy if you thought of Uplander less as a minivan and more as a blunt-nosed SUV crossover," says New Car Test Drive, but "the Uplander looks like a minivan with a prominent, slightly awkward snout. It won't fool many people."

Edmunds has a similar problem with the Uplander's nose: "We're not sold on the whole 'SUV/van' concept ... To our eyes, the Uplander looks more like a minivan with a really big and flat front end."

Some reviewers like the Uplander's appearance. Kelley Blue Book says that "the overall look is quite appealing." New Car Test Drive notes, "One thing that impresses during an Uplander walkaround is the overall quality of its assembly and finish. The seams on our test vehicle matched precisely and consistently, and the paint had a thick, deep luster with very little orange-peel effect. It was among the best we've seen from Chevrolet and as good as any other minivan currently offered." And Automobile Magazine likes the tires: "The optional, 17-inch alloy wheels look exceptionally good."
