Safety - What the Auto Press Says

In government crash tests, the Uplander received five out of five stars for driver and front passenger protection in front impact crashes. In side impact crashes, the Uplander earned four stars for front seat occupant protection and five stars for rear seat occupant protection.

Accident Avoidance

Although Edmunds calls the safety features "somewhat hodgepodge on the Uplander," standard accident avoidance features include four-wheel antilock disk brakes and GM's StabiliTrak stability control (except on the regular wheelbase model), which helps prevent skidding on slippery surfaces. The Uplander also comes standard with a Driver Information Center that monitors up to 56 vehicle functions.

Crash Protection

Standard crash protection features include driver and right-front passenger seat-mounted, side-impact air bags; second-row outboard, seat-mounted, side-impact air bags; and a passenger sensing system which switches right-front passenger air bags on or off based on the weight of the passenger.
