2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible Safety Review
Safety - What the Auto Press Says
The 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible receives the highest rating of "Good" in insurance industry front and side impact crash tests, but has not been tested in government crash tests.
Although the convertible has not had government crash tests, the 2008 Sebring sedan earned 5 out of 5 stars for both driver and front passenger protection in frontal crashes, according to the federal government. Additionally, the 2007 sedan earned 5 stars for the front seat in side crashes, while the rear seat earned 3 stars.
Accident Avoidance
All 2008 Chrysler Sebrings come standard with anti-lock, four-wheel disc brakes and a tire pressure monitoring system. Cars.com is among those happy to find that electronic stability control and traction control are standard.
Opinions are inconclusive on visibility -- just as many reviewers complain as praise their ability to see. Reviewers like Allpar.com think the convertible has good visibility with the top down, but the Chicago Sun-Times' writer finds "thick windshield posts hinder visibility when taking turns." Cars.com mentions visibility as only "adequate" when the top is up, and About.com notes "front visibility is awkward; the Sebring feels much wider than it is."
Crash Protection
Sebrings feature standard advanced driver and front passenger air bags and supplemental front-seat mounted side air bags.
