A full review of the 2008 Ford Focus Coupe is coming soon.

Ford redesigned the Focus Coupe for 2008, along with the four-door Ford Focus sedan. Both versions now have a modified interior and exterior design, and a handful of new features.

The Focus Coupe is offered in three trims -- the S, SE and SES, all of which are powered by a 2.0-liter Duratec four-cylinder engine with 140 horsepower and 136 pound-feet of torque. There's also an optional four-cylinder engine that meets California emissions standards; it makes 130 horsepower and 129 pound-feet of torque. Both engines get respectable gas mileage -- 24 miles per gallon in the city and 33 on the highway, according to the EPA. The standard transmission is a five-speed manual, but a four-speed automatic is optional.

The 2008 Ford Focus Coupe is a front-wheel drive vehicle with a traditional suspension setup for its class -- an independent MacPherson strut front with control blade rear suspension. The SES Coupe also has a rear stabilizer bar, an option for the mid-range SE. All Focus Coupes have hydraulic gas pressurized shock absorbers, power rack-and-pinion steering and front-vented, rear-drum brakes. An anti-lock braking system with traction control is optional.

The two-door Focus Coupe can seat five on its standard cloth bucket seats. Heated seats and leather trim are optional for the SE and SES. Standard audio is a single disc in-dash system with four speakers, speed sensitive volume control and an input jack. One of the most notable additions for 2008 is the SYNC system, a voice-activated, hands free in-car communications and entertainment system with Bluetooth capability that's an option for the SE Coupe and standard for the SES. According to Motor Trend, "It takes a few minutes to learn the system's commands, but once you've got it down, Sync makes using your electronic toys easy and safe." Both the SE and SES Coupe also have an optional Audiophile ® Sound system with a six-disc in-dash changer, four coaxial speakers and an eight-inch subwoofer.

The 2008 Focus Coupe does moderately well in government crash tests. It earned five out of five stars for both driver and front passenger protection in frontal crashes. However, the Coupe earned three stars for front seat and backseat occupants' protection in side impact crashes, and receives a four-star rollover rating. Dual-stage front, front seat side and side curtain air bags are standard for the Focus Coupe.

Ford provides a three-year or 36,000-mile basic warranty for all its vehicles. The Ford Focus Coupe also has a five-year or 60,000-mile powertrain warranty.
