Ford Taurus X - What the Auto Press Says

The Taurus X delivers good power, convenient features and great crash test scores, but can't match the style of others in its class.

New for 2008, the Taurus X replaces the Freestyle in Ford's lineup and shares its styling cues with the Taurus sedan, which itself replaces the Ford Five Hundred. The Ford Taurus X, most reviewers agree, is a safe and comfortable crossover wagon with decent power and good room for both passengers and cargo. The change from Freestyle to Taurus X brings a slightly revised exterior and a more powerful engine.

Reviewers generally find the Taurus X to be a good value. Its sticker price, says Car and Driver, "puts it in the same territory as the GMC Acadia/Saturn Outlook twins as one of the few relatively affordable, full-size, seven-passenger crossovers on the market."

The Taurus X is available in SEL, Eddie Bauer and Limited trim levels.

  • "This crossover vehicle combines space-conscious and people-friendly packaging with a modern powertrain that delivers performance and efficiency." -- CarsDirect
  • "I am happy to report that I still love my Freestyle, and am even happier to report that Ford has improved on an already great car in the Taurus X." -- Mother Proof
  • "The base price for the Taurus X is $27,365 including delivery, and that includes six airbags and stability control." -- The Car Connection
  • "Smooth and quiet, the Taurus X, by any other name, remains one of the better people-movers available." -- The Orlando Sentinel
